May 19 is National Native Nonprofit Day, and your support can make a real difference for Native students pursuing higher education! Native Nonprofit Day is a giving initiative to increase support for Native-led organizations nationwide.
At Native Forward, we have made an incredible impact over the past 53 years, addressing the financial need of Native scholars who pursue higher education. As the largest direct scholarship provider to Native students in the U.S., we have empowered over 20,000 scholars from over 500 Tribes in all 50 states by providing scholarship dollars and support services for undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees.
Despite our efforts, we can only fund 14% of students who apply through Native Forward, and the need for funding still far outweighs our current resources. Still, with your support, we can continue moving the needle forward for Native communities nationwide by funding more Native scholars. By donating, you’re helping our founders’ vision to continue to increase the representation of Native professionals in all sectors of society to empower future generations.
We invite organizations, foundations, and individuals to dedicate May to raising awareness on supporting all Native-led nonprofits. Embedded within our organization is the priority to strengthen Native communities and Tribal identities through the power of education.
With every opportunity to give back to our students, we are investing in a bright future for the next generations. Through equitable and sustainable access to scholarships and holistic support services, we have empowered Native students to achieve their dreams.
