Get to know the guest speakers for this year’s Indigenous Leadership Summit! Meet Native Forward Alumna Shandiin Herrera.
She is a rising 2L at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. At ASU, she serves as the President of the Native American Law Student Association. Shandiin is from Monument Valley, Utah, and is a proud member of the Navajo Nation. She received her bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Duke University in 2019. She graduated as Duke’s first Native American Udall Scholar, the American Indian Graduate Center’s Student of The Year, the 2019 Terry Sanford Leadership Award winner, and the Duke Alumni Association’s Forever Duke Leadership Award winner.
Shandiin returned home as a Lead for America Hometown Fellow, working as a Policy Analyst and Project Consultant for the Oljato Chapter of the Navajo Nation. In March 2020, Shandiin co-founded Yee Ha’ólníi Doo d.b.a. Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund and served as the Director of the Tse Bii Ndzisgaii Community Center. She was selected as the 2021 Duke Changemaker Award winner and a New Bridge Program Fellow.
Shandiin is a Summer Associate at Rothstein Donatelli in the Tempe, Arizona, office.
