Get to know the guest speakers for this year’s Indigenous Leadership Summit! Meet Native Forward Alumna Dr. Gabrielle S. Evans.
Gabrielle S. Evans, Ph.D., MPH, CHES, is an educator and researcher from North Carolina and a proud citizen of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe. Gabrielle was awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship in 2010. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to obtain her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public health.
She recently obtained a Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston. She is a postdoctoral fellow at The Johns Hopkins University Center for Indigenous Health. Her research focuses on reducing sexual health disparities among Native American populations and analyzing the impact of historical and present traumas on Native sexual health.
Dr. Evans will present on harnessing the power of networking and the various benefits and techniques to initiate conversations to make lasting impressions.
