I was the AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) club President this year. In my position I successfully re-established the Haskell AISES Chapter with the national organization after it had been dissolved for more than two years due to COVID complications. I also helped lead our team in the First Nations Launch Rocket Competition where we won Rookie Team of the Year in the Gateway challenge. Also as part of my role in AISES, I helped tutor my peers in their math classes. This included Intermediate math, College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus 1. Finally, I was part of a Summer Research Team under the DHS and NCITE (National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center). The team was made of two students and and faculty lead. We were awarded a $100,000 in funding to continue the research in Drone usage in Indian Reservations.

I would first like to acknowledge the profound impact that Native Forward has had in my academic journey so far. As a Native Forward Scholar, I received funding that allowed me to participate in the NASA ROCK ON challenge that took place last Summer in Chincoteague, VA. I successfully constructed an experiment to measure radiation, rotation, magnetic field changes, and a few other basic measurements. This experience changed my academic path for the best. It is what inspired me to pursue Aerospace Engineering and I am grateful to Native Forward for helping to achieve my dreams. Being a Native Forward Scholar means taking challenges head on, knowing that you are supported by people who believe in you and who trust your ability and commitment towards advancing Indian Country. As a Native Forward Scholar, I feel empowered to overcome obstacles as they come up, whether its hardship, excessive work load, or other complications, I feel confident that the work I am doing and the skills I am gaining will contribute to future generation’s success.
