Native Forward’s Empowering Scholars Summit is aimed to create a space for participants to elevate their professional skills, expand their social capital and networks, enhance personal brand, and develop an executive presence.
Native Forward is seeking applicants to participate in the 2025 Summit. Current graduate students and alumni are eligible to apply for Team Lead positions, and current scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for the Scholar participant roles. Read more below.

What can Summit Scholars expect?
Summit Scholar participants will be immersed in three full days of dynamic workshops, sessions, keynote speakers, engaging networking activities, and impactful community building. This is an opportunity to gain invaluable insights and elevate your professional skills. Summit Scholar’s travel, lodging, and meals will be completely covered by Native Forward.
Summit Scholar Application Requirements:
- Scholar applicants must be a current Native Forward scholarship recipient for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students who graduate in May 2025 are eligible to apply.
- Priority for the 2025 summit will be given to scholars in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones during summer 2025.
What is a Summit Team Lead?
Summit Team Leads are responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to scholars participating in the summit, and will serve as co-facilitators for Summit events and activities. Team Leads will present at least one summit session and attend all other sessions to assist staff in making sure participants are fully engaged in the required activities. Summit Team Lead’s travel, lodging, and meals will be completely covered by Native Forward.
Team Leads Application Requirements:
- Be a Native Forward Alumni or current Native Forward graduate student. Priority for the 2025 summit will be given to individuals in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones during summer 2025.
- Must be able to commit to attending the entire event, including all summit sessions, breakout activities, social events, and any pre-summit training sessions.
- Must present at least one summit session.
- Be able to pass a background check.
The Empowering Scholars Summit is completely free. Native Forward will cover all travel, lodging, and meal expenses for summit participants.
The Native Forward team will review all submitted applications after the closing deadline. Decision notifications will be sent directly via email by April 1st.
Summit Scholars and Summit Team Leads may be required to share a room with another participant. We will do our best to accommodate roommate preferences, which will be collected after the selection process is complete.

Yes, study spaces and time will be provided during social activities, but we do expect Scholars and Team Leads will participate in all formal activities.
Yes, the Team Lead application allows you to opt-in for additional consideration as a Scholar participant.
